UCP’s Family Support Program offers financial assistance for adaptive technology through the Elsie S. Bellows Fund. Paul, who receives Case Management from our Options for Community Living Program, recently received a Bellows grant to purchase an Amazon Echo. This now offers him more independence in his home by utilizing the “voice activated” features on the component. Paul is now able to turn lights on and off, record events and appointments on his calendar and create a shopping list for his PCA’s all by using his voice!
