Camp NO LIMITS 2016 has come to a close! We would like to thank everyone who helped make this, our third year, such a success! Once again we had a group of thirteen high school aged student volunteers and two staff from Service Corps at Brandeis who helped out each morning. By all accounts it was a mutually beneficial experience for everyone! The volunteers reported they had a life changing week and the camp participants loved the opportunity to interact with young people!  The hot weather added a few challenges and last minute venue changes, but great fun was had by all!

Monday July 11th | Beach Day: While the fog burned off, the morning featured beach BINGO, cabana drink making, and a relaxing beach sensory experience inside. In the afternoon the Day Habilitation parking lot was transformed into a simulated beach, with kiddie pools filled with water, tarps with sand, a beach ball game, and sunshine tunes!

Tuesday July 12th | Art Day: In the morning participants worked on bowling ramp art and splat painting outside. Those inside worked together to build a giant sensory art bag. In the afternoon participants decorated tote bags and created rainbow pudding parfaits.

Wednesday July 13th | Rodeo Day: A very exciting morning- we had a farm visit with 20 baby farm animals, including a diapered baby goat, a mini potbelly piglet, lots of bunnies, silkie hens, chicks and ducklings to pet, hold, and snuggle! SLP Goldie and her student led us in modified line dancing in the afternoon, with some “cow roping??? ring toss for those who needed to escape the heat.

Thursday July 14th | Games Day: “Hoop There It Is??? came with hula hoops to get everyone moving in the morning! A perennial favorite, participants also had the opportunity to use a catapult to toss bean bags at pictures of staff faces attached to bowling pins! There was also other carnival games. In the afternoon at CE there was a game of Blockbuster created by OT/Speech Aide Beatrice, as well as Giant Kerplunk, while Day Habilitation participants had Giant Connect 4, bowling, and campfire stories and songs.

Friday July 15th | Field Day: Due to the heat we moved things indoors, but everyone had a great time playing hot potato, musical statues, parachute games, and a very competitive hat relay! The afternoon wrapped up with a wonderful performance by Angela Thomas that had everyone singing and playing instruments.

As we sang each morning, “From East to West, Camp NO LIMITS is the best!”
